Endo Care

Unproblematic Pads

Three years ago, I discovered my pads were part of the reason why I was having so much skin irritation and inflammation in my nether regions. I reaaaally wish that in my youth, I didn’t just accept things so easily and had questioned if maaaaybe it wasn’t normal to go through what I was going through. *sigh* But you live, you learn.

So yea, the symptoms of my endometriosis were being further fed by the pads I used to use. The biggest fuel for endometriosis are my stress levels though. Stress just makes things so much worse. But that deviates from my original point since this post is about the pads I have learned to trust after continual use with successful results.

I took birth control for two years straight to suppress the growth of cysts and the other symptoms of endometriosis. But now that I have changed things up for my mental health (birth control causes my anxiety to go into hyperdrive), I’ve started using pads again. But I have learned that the Always pads I had used so often for their great absorbency and varied sizes, were made with materials that had made my skin and internal inflammation much worse than it needed to be. It seems that they have altered their products to address some controversy but I no longer wish to return to their products.

I had done research and found that organic pads work best for my health condition. The particular sort I’ve been using are made by Rael.

They’re free from: chlorine, fragrance, pesticides, artificial dyes, toxic adhesives (I have developed an aversion to most adhesives in recent years after bandaids started to give me rashes), acetone, styrene, chloroform, chloromethane, chloroethane, GMOs, rayon, polyester and other toxic ingredients. I’m kind of at a loss though that any sort of these ingredients would end up on something that goes on a very sensitive part of the female body. But, it’s expected that in the world of commercialism, money means more to most companies than their consumer’s health.

I’ve also used The Honest Company Organic Cotton Pads and they too did not cause me any issues.

With all these organic pads, I have had less heavy flows while using them (not sure if that’s tied to the inflammation or not), no irritation, and much less inflammation. I’m very happy dealing with my cycles now. Though I still do limit them. I’ll be on birth control one month and allow a month without it. I tried to take it three months straight and only take one month in-between (which was how they prescribe me to take the birth control I use) but my emotions and mind couldn’t take the intense hormonal fluctuations so for now I’m just alternating months.
